Navajo Educational Project
The Circle of Light Navajo Educational Project (CLNEP) is a 501(C)3
non-profit organization dedicated to the education and inspiration of
Navajo youth through projects and programs that help build cultural
pride and self worth. Through a variety of role models, CLNEP helps
educate both Navajos and non-Navajos about the history, culture, and
positive contributions of the Navajo people.
Our organization is an extension of a seven year mural project. Located
in Gallup, New Mexico at Ellis Tanner Trading Company, the murals were
painted by Chester Kahn between 1994 and 2000. There are sixty-four
murals that depict prominent Navajos of the twentieth century. These
murals are a major feature and inspiration for many of the projects and
programs we do.
